My First Tutu

I've just returned from a trip to Atlanta.  I had a great trip visiting family, shopping, swimming and eating out.  But it's time to catch up on some sewing and learning something new......like making tutus.
I made a tutu today!  I started making a purple & gold LSU tutu and threw it in the trash.  Luckily I didn't give up because these are fun to make.  I can't wait to make more!

This one is a shower gift and I plan to monogram a onesie in the morning to match.  It's a start and the next ones will be better.  I used three pieces of tulle on each knot I made.

Tutus can be embellished in many ways.  I kept this one simple since it is a newborn size.  I think I'll try a Halloween tutu soon :)
Signing off for the weekend.....have a great one!

Baby Claudia

A good friend asked me to make a shower gift for Baby Claudia.  She wanted the "Happy Owl" in chocolate, pink and aqua.  So this is how he turned out!

I used Whoa Nelly font and arced it over "Happy Owl"

I made her a matching headband bow ......

and frilly bloomers to match.....

the bows are kind of big but they can easily be removed
Sewing for babies is sooooo much fun!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Bows & Onesies

I decided I want to learn to make bows to match the outfits I sew.  So this afternoon I watched alot of "You Tube" videos on bow making.  Let me tell you bow making has changed since I made them for my daughter years ago.  Now you have to use at least 5 different ribbons and they are called "Boutique Bows".  Wow!  I think a person needs a PhD in design to make a bow.  It took me a long time to make 3 little bows.  I want to get better at bow making but we'll see.

This saying is just too cute the way the lettering is done.  Love at first sight!

If anyone can teach me to make a "boutique bow"  give me a call.....quick!

What a face!  Too precious to scare me :-)

and a matching bow

Signing off for the weekend!  Have a wonderful Saturday & Sunday!
Gotta go work on my bow making skills :)

Facebook Fun, Fall & Something For Me

I have been at work some this week but I have managed to sew some in between work and family activities.  I have found some fun designs that I am excited about stitching.  This is one for Sloan that my daughter liked.  I went to WalMart to find just a small amount of royal blue fabric since all of my royal blue fabric has stripes or polka dots.  There was not any royal blue fabric :(  So I decided to use a tee shirt I had on hand.  It worked and the blue thread I had was a perfect match.

I added a few small blue stones to give it a little pizazz.

I'm starting to sew pumpkins,ghosts & cats

Simple pumpkin patch (no pun intended)

And finally something for me.  I've never made myself anything to wear but this is a black tee.  I've been trying to learn to put text in a circle and I finally figured it out.  Of course once you figure it out it seems simple.  I will use the text circle for lots of projects.....school name in a circle with an apple in the center.....all kinds of things.  These are my grand babies names and what they call me in the middle.
Just something fun!

More for Ella Marie

A ruffled bib for Ella Marie
This fabric is adorable with the black dots and pink French poodles.

New design from Embroitique

I added her name with an Embird font

Matching burp cloth with the same design and the same poodle fabric for the ruffle

The complete set

Onesie with the happy owl

Remember this burp?

And frilly bloomers

This Halloween bib is for Sloan....I just hope it still fits her in October.  She is growing by leaps and bounds!

These bibs are so easy to make and they could be monogrammed of course.  I just added ruffles for now.

10 Days at the Beach

My family has been going to San Destin, Florida for close to 30 years now.  It is a place we love.  Every year we stay in a different area within San Destin but almost always we stay on the bay side which has so many activities and places to go. This year we stayed in Crystal Lake.

Our street was lined with white Crepe Myrtles.....it was a beautiful sight.  Each house had it's own "beach" personality and color.

This was our "home" this year.

About 30 steps from our front door was Crystal Lake which is home to about 14 ducks none of which are afraid of humans.  They would literally come running when we walked up.  We tried to give them all names :) and lots of bread, chips and popcorn.

We took our annual family photo on the beach at Seaside where my daughter and son-in-law were married.  Instead of a mid-morning photo shoot we did a late afternoon on the beach.  Our color this year was pink or any variation of pink :)
Uncle Clint ("Quint" as Grayson calls him) with his precious niece and nephew.

This is how we "do" our pictures.  The camera is on a tri-pod, we all try to get grouped just right, my son-in-law hits the timer ..............and runs to get in the picture.  Oh and he usually scoops up a child.  All in 10 seconds.  Which is why we have so much fun taking our own pictures and why it takes us multiple trys to get 1 good one.

TaDa.....my favorite of the groups pics

Nice one

Look at the camera, Sloany instead of your big brother!

Kitchen photo of a future Cover Girl :)

Lovey, dovey Grayman!

Simply Beautiful

My favorite........Gray snuck in on this one

Good bye Florida, ducks, beach, sun and fun times until next year!
Thank you, Lord for a wonderful and safe trip.
