Reindeer Initials

Several of you have asked where I've been.  I did go on a trip last week but I'm back and just trying to catch up!  I started working on reindeer shirts tonight.

I finished 4 turkey shirts and now I'm moving on to Christmas.  This is a Reindeer alphabet.  Each letter has it's own reindeer face.  I think it's great for boys.  Megan picked it out for her guys so here's the 1st one.

Also, I've been knitting a lot lately.  More to come on that but this is a slouch hat that is so fun to work on.  I ordered the pattern from Etsy.  It's not finished yet.....I still plan to add red polka dots but this is a preview of the almost finished hat.  Anyway I'm back and have lots in the works.  I may not blog much the next few weeks but I hope everyone has a great week and for most of us it's a short week.  Veterans day is a holiday for educators and students.  Yah!

2 Baby Hats

I have been working on baby hats. Both of these are for newborns although one looks much larger than the other. Oops! This hat is called a Square Ribbed Hat and it is knitted on the largest needles I have ever used....size 17. I also used a yarn that is very chunky. I think this is a very popular trend in knitting right now....chunky yarn and BIG needles. I really love the look of this one. I had trouble finding the needles but ordered them from a knitting shop in Plano, Texas called the Woolie Ewe. Oh I want to visit that shop! A yarn called Soft Chunky was recommended by the girl on Etsy who sold me the hat pattern. But for now I'm using a yarn I found in town.
This little hat is made with much smaller needles and smaller yarn. It is so sweet and dainty and definitely looks the size for a newborn baby. I like the way it has a turn up around the bottom edge. It is a similar stitch pattern to the other hat but you would never think that.
Ok here they are side by side. Which is your favorite? I also have a pattern for a cocoon that matches the chunky pattern. It is adorable. I am having trouble finding the double pointed size 17 needles I need to make it. As soon as I find a place to order the needles and knit it I will show you the matching cocoon. Knitting lessons anyone?

Back To Work!

Love the new baby LSU Tiger! Actually he could be any tiger but for us here in Louisiana he is an LSU TIGER!
Also, got a new fleur de lis. I think this one will be a good one for all my SAINTS things.
Hooded towel with a very small hood for a newborn. I really enjoy making these.

Hand-Knitted baby hat.....oh so sweet!

After a relaxing and fun 9 day vacation in SanDestin with my family I am back at home anxious to sew and create. I had a large order placed right before I left for a baby soon to arrive. His name is Jantz Michael....nice and unique. His parents are "Huge" LSU and SAINTS Fans. Orders like that are always fun to do especially since I found the cutest little Tiger while on vacation. I had bought some LSU plaid fabric before I left to make jonjons but it was perfect for the baby Tiger. I've also picked up my knitting needles again and am anxious to make baby hats and cocoons for all the newborns coming this year and next. I visited the yarn shop in Destin and stocked up on some baby yarn. I will be sewing all day and trying some new things! Hope you all had a fun-filled July 4th. I love that holiday and will sew many more red, white and blue things next year.
