Surf's Up

I have started a summer project and will share it with you as it progresses. I am redoing my son's old room and turning it into a Surf's Up room for Grayson and Alex. It will take me some time to work on it but I have all summer so I'm in no hurry. I want it to be fun and comfortable for "the boys" or anyone who stays there. I've started by painting the room... well not me exactly but a painter. It is the perfect shade of blue considering I did not have the bedding when I picked out the paint. It is "Bewitching Blue" by Sherwin Williams. The bedding arrived today and it is called Surf's Up by Pottery Barn Kids. I can't wait to work on it but first got to finish school. I hope to share more tomorrow!

Beach Towels!

What fun these girls are going to have celebrating the upcoming marriage of a good friend. These beach towels are such a great gift for your BFF's. I think Rachel thinks of everything! The wedding is just around the corner and what a beautiful bride she will be. Enjoy the "Bachelorette Party" and thanks for letting me monogram the towels.

Giant Cupcake and Grad Gift

My daughter gave me a cupcake cake pan for Mother's Day and I was anxious to try it out. It has a really pretty shape and only needs icing in the middle and on top. I didn't want to ice the sides. I think it's adorable and I think next time I could do better. This was a practice run.

I also have a friend who needed a grad gift for a "graduating" kindergarten student. She wanted to give her a children's cookbook and I suggested an apron to go with it. I had been keeping this little apron for a special request. I love the ruffle on the bottom and I used my 60's Flower Power flower again. I don't get tired of that happy sweet flower.
The week is already off and running. Teachers have less than 2 weeks of school...not that I'm counting :) Have a great Tuesday! Only 3 bachelorette beach towels left to finish! Look for those later this week.

Grad Gifts

I needed a couple of grad gifts for students I taught this year. I took these $2 mugs from WalMart and added their name, a few polka dots and a stuffed smiley face and voila.....a cute grad gift. For some reason when we take a simple, everyday item and add a name or some personalization it makes it so much more special. Congratulations to the
Class of 2010 at LHS!

Looks like happy graduates!

Love this new font I found. It's called
"black boys on mopeds". Who names these fonts? I think it's
my new favorite especially for young people and kids.
Thanks dafont.com for the free font!

Gabby

My son came home last night so he could play in a golf tournament today. It is always good when we get to see and visit with him. He is one of my biggest embroidery fans. He "advertises" for me with his friends and helps me deliver orders. Last week he said a friend wanted 4 burp cloths and to try to have them finished this weekend so he could pick them up. Well it is a good thing I stayed up until midnight finishing them because he is not coming home after the tournament. I thought I had all day to complete them. Luckily I was putting the finishing touches on them early this morning. Gabby is short for Gabriella....a really nice name I think. Golfers are gone so I'm cleaning my house today and stitching "bachelorette" beach towels. Have a great weekend!

Super Heros Party

This past weekend we celebrated my step grand-son's birthday. My daughter did all the work I just provided our home. Alex loves Spider Man, Wolverine, Superman and all the other Superheros that I'm not that familiar with. It was a fun birthday and the weather was perfect for being outdoors. In fact it was even a bit cool. Please enjoy the pictures. Like I've said before my daughter is the "hostess with the mostest" creativity. Happy Thursday!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mother's out there. My weekend and Mother's Day has been soooo good. My children and grandchildren were here with us for the whole weekend and today we all went to church with my mother, their grandmother and great grandmother. I want to dedicate my Mother's Day to my daughter who is the "hostess with the mostest". She gave her step-son the best 6 year old birthday party ever this weekend! She went from having one son to having three children after she married. She loves them and they love her. Being a step mom is not easy but she does it better than anyone I know. Happy Mother's Day Colleen! XOXO, Mom.

Please watch the youtube video "The Invisible Woman" found here as my Mother's Day gift to all of you! It pretty much sums up motherhood and remember.....
"To the world you might be one person but to one person you might be the world"!

Bridesmaids' Totes

A former student of mine is getting married and she is using peacock feather colors for her wedding. I love the bright colors....turquoise, lime green, purple and deep pink. She asked me to monogram her bridesmaid totes. She wanted black thread for all the monograms. I think she made a great color choice. The black thread looks good against the bright colors. By the way, she is going "green" for the entire wedding. Everything is "eco" friendly. How cool is that! Even the totes are eco-chic! They are made from natural jute and cotton. Almost finished with all the totes but just one left to do. I am so thrilled to be able to do these for her and I know the wedding will be beautiful.
