Here's To You Mrs. Robinson

I finished them all!  I really enjoyed doing these for the Future Mrs. Robinson.  I know they will have a fun filled Spa Day wearing their matching tanks.

I've still got lots of threads to clip but wanted you to see how hard I've been working :)

There is a story behind this one for the Groom's little girl but I'm not telling :)

Mrs. Robinson also wanted a jacket to wear on her wedding day while getting her hair and make-up done.  Her wedding colors are navy, lime green, aqua and a hint of tangerine.  This thread is navy and I chose lime green for a smaller fleur de lis.  I stressed over the jacket deciding on colors to use and fleur de lis or not.

Up close....don't look at all my threads that still need clipping.  I was wondering if I renewed my wedding vows could I get some shirts for a spa day and a jacket like this one?  Wouldn't that be fun?  Don't think it will happen.....just sounds like soooo much fun.

This is the front of her jacket. Thanks, Jessica for letting me do these things for your special day.  It was fun.  Your engagement pictures are BEAUTIFUL so I know you'll be a gorgeous bride.
Best Wishes

Bee Mine

I took a break from sewing Bridesmaids tanks to sew a little something for Sloan.  I changed this design quite a bit.  It had one wing and I added another.  I turned it in the opposite direction and left off the eyes and mouth.

I added 3 rows of ribbon that I ruffled on my machine.
I'm really liking yellow and black right now.

Bridesmaids Tanks

Jessica, a long-time friend of my children is getting married next month in New Orleans. She asked me to monogram some fun things for her bridesmaids, maid of honor, mom and herself.  Sewing for special occasions always scares me.  I would hate to mess up something special and this assignment really made me nervous.  Jessica and her wedding attendants will have a spa day prior to the big day and she wanted some matching tanks for them to wear.  All she asked was that I use black and white and maybe a fleur de lis.  I stressed over what to design and almost used something else when I went back to another idea....this is what I finally settled on.

Instead of putting the fleur de lis directly onto the shirt I put it on a circle.  I almost used black & white gingham for the circle knowing that it really wasn't the best fabric for a young bride-to-be & her bridesmaids.  My daughter intervened and told me to use a black & white polka dot.

So 2 are done and 5 more to go.

And...... Happy Easter from Grayson and all of us.  I hope your holiday weekend was wonderful.
God truly blessed us with a wonderful one!

Bibs

This little bib is going in Sloaney Baloney's {aka Sloan} Easter basket.

Mandy's little boy is turning 1 in May and she designed the bib she wanted for him.  She wanted the colors blue, orange and lime green.  The bib is micro blue & white checked gingham. This is what we came up.

I did the embroidery part and then took it to my neighbor to finish it.  I love the orange gingham she used for the trim.  I think Preston will look adorable in his birthday bib.
Happy Birthday, Preston!

Layered Flower Design

This design is done in a "Raggy" style.  There is no satin stitch to finish the edges.  It is an unfinished look.  The edges will fray as it is washed or worn.  It doesn't take long to stitch but there is still a lot of cutting and preparing each layer.

I wanted to try something new for Sloan tonight and I didn't want her name on it.

I like the frayed look for a change from the normal satin stitch.

Chalkboard Chargers

I've been wanting to try these for awhile and finally got all my materials together that I needed to do the project.

I started with inexpensive black plastic chargers.  Then I used primer for plastic.....it must be primer/paint for plastic or your chalkboard paint will just "slide" off the charger.

I didn't find primer for plastic so I went with a matte black paint for plastic.  Then after letting that coat dry overnight I sprayed my plate with chalkboard paint.  I used at least 3 thin coats and allowed it to dry completely before spraying another coat.

After it dried completely I used colored chalk and added some writing. This will go under the kids real plates and hopefully when they get bored they can just write at the Easter table.

I added a box of colored chalk and a little cellophane and ribbon.  I think these will  make fun birthday gifts for my little friends.

Just had to share a picture of my little Grayson at an egg hunt this afternoon.  Notice his basket is empty.....he wasn't that interested in looking for eggs but rather what was inside them.  He had a ball and some of the older girls even shared their eggs with him.

The Lily Collection

My former students are getting married, having babies and generally making me feel old :)  Lillian's mom is a former student so I wanted something really cute.....thus "The Lily Collection".  Lily's nursery colors are turquoise, lime green, hot pink and brown.  So I started with a fabric that had 2 of those colors in it and used my old retro favorite...Flower Power as the design.

Bunnys for Adrienne & Elizabeth

Bunny shirts for sisters
Their mother did not care if the fabric was the same so I chose the same polka dot fabric in two colors.....similar but a little bit different.

Adrienne's background fabric is bright Kelly green

Elizabeth got the bright pink fabric

Happy Easter girls!
Can you'll tell how tired I am?  It's been a long testing week at school.
Two more days :)

Carrot Shirt For Cash & New Fabric

Cash has some fun Easter parties to attend so he needs a special shirt to wear.  His mom and I decided a carrot would be good for a "big boy" like Cash.  I used my new orange polka dot fabric and green polka dots for the stem.   The stem has a "raggy" look.  The fabric is left in a more natural effect and looks frayed after washing.  I think it looks good for the stem.

The carrot is an AppliqueCafe design and the font is Boingo.

New Riley Blake fabric.  If you sew or work with fabric you understand how much fun it is to have new fabric.  You just stare at it and dream up new things to create :)

More Riley Blake fabric and pink corduroy

Orange Polka Dot I used for the carrot shirt

Autism Speaks Fabric that I need for a special project I'm doing.

New ribbon to play with!
Gotta get busy sewing!
