Tutu for Megan

Big Sister Megan needed a tutu for her Big Sister shirt.  I used a medium turquoise tulle.  I usually use 3 different colors but I really like using one color.  The color pops and is very vivid.  I cut my tulle twice the length I want the tutu to be plus 1 inch. A 2T sized tutu should be 8-9 inches long or 10" if you want a longer look.  So I cut my tulle which is on 6" wide rolls...19" long. For this tutu I used 2.5 rolls of tulle.  I cut all my lengths of tulle first (lots of cutting).  Then I hold 3 cut lengths together and knot them on my elastic waist. I use an 18" piece of 3/4" elastic for a 2T size.  I double stitch my elastic together and then add my tulle.  It's really quite simple just time consuming.  Then embellish as you like.

So again:

1. Determine the color tulle you want to use
2. Determine the size waist you need and length (I usually google this info)
3. Double stitch elastic together (on sewing machine)
4. Cut tulle twice the length plus 1" that you want the tutu to be
(9" length tutu-cut tulle 19" long)
5. Holding 3 pieces of cut tulle together, knot it onto waist band.  I use a single knot.
6. The more tulle you use the prettier the tutu.
7. Embellish as you like
8.  Put on a precious little girl....take a picture!

So make some tutus and have fun!

Hello everyone.  It's been a week and I'm very happy tomorrow is Friday.  Love Fridays! I put the finishing touches on a few things tonight so I could deliver them tomorrow.

This is a very old-fashioned type of monogram.  I put it on a mini cloth diaper.  Just the right size burp cloth now that Sloan is 1 year old.

This tutu is for a Big Sis.  I made her a shirt to match her baby sister's onesie.  The tutu is to wear with her shirt.  The pinks do not photograph well because they are light pink.

I'm heading south after work tomorrow to see my "precious ones" that I love so much.  I hope you have a wonderful Friday even if it rains most of the day.
XOXO,
Karen

Tutus for Two Sisters

I've been sewing alot lately for these two sisters.  Big Sis is having a birthday party soon and she and her sister will be wearing the same outfit but in different colors.

This is little sister's tutu and her onesie will have the Miss Kitty design in aqua polka dots with pink accents.

Big sis will wear a Miss Kitty shirt in pink polka dots with purple accents.

So her tutu is made in shades of purple, lavender and pink.
This is the largest tutu that I have made.  It is almost 10.5 " long.  It's so big and full.......I love it!
Happy Birthday Sweet Jackson!

CATS Rock!

Just a little something for Sloan to wear as she cheers on the Wampus CATS in their Jamboree tomorrow night :-)

It will be hot but maybe we will be able to stay for a short while and check out all the CAT fans.

GO CATS!

A friend at school ordered a tutu outfit for Baby Ella.  Her mom wanted pink & black.

I'm looking forward to a great weekend because I will have Alex, Grayson & Sloan.  We will be doing lots of playing, eating and riding the golf cart.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!

Baby Ramiyah Part II

Just couldn't stand it I had to make Baby Ramiyah a red tutu and matching headband bow.  I run out of red tulle right at the last few knots.  I had to run to the store and of course they didn't have another spool of red tulle.  I had to buy red tulle by the yard and cut it.......rather time consuming.  The reds were not a perfect match but I was able to blend them and no one will ever see the difference.

I probably would never have chosen red but then I'm not a red person.  However, this little outfit is perfectly adorable in red and it's just what her grandmother wanted.

Look out for Baby Ramiyah!
Tutu cute!

My First Tutu

I've just returned from a trip to Atlanta.  I had a great trip visiting family, shopping, swimming and eating out.  But it's time to catch up on some sewing and learning something new......like making tutus.
I made a tutu today!  I started making a purple & gold LSU tutu and threw it in the trash.  Luckily I didn't give up because these are fun to make.  I can't wait to make more!

This one is a shower gift and I plan to monogram a onesie in the morning to match.  It's a start and the next ones will be better.  I used three pieces of tulle on each knot I made.

Tutus can be embellished in many ways.  I kept this one simple since it is a newborn size.  I think I'll try a Halloween tutu soon :)
Signing off for the weekend.....have a great one!
